Chinese buns

This makes a few batches, some sweet and some savoury.

Recipe is vague and apparently incomplete.

Preliminary

  1. Soak and boil 500g beans (eg. corn?)
  2. Mash
  3. Strain, into wok
  4. Heat to remove water after the straining
  5. Add 1 cup sugar to a well in centre of bean-mash
  6. Allow to melt, mixing through
  7. Brown 1 cup of sesame seeds in a dry pan
  8. Add 100g crushed peanuts
  9. Add browned sesame seeds
  10. Cook, mixing, until dryish

Dish 1

  • Finely chopped mushrooms (how much?)
  • 2 big cans of water chestnuts

Dish 2

  • 600g chopped pork
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tsp (heaped) cornflour
  • Mix well

Dish 3

  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbl dark soy sauce
  • 1 Tbl light soy sauce
  • 1 Tbl oyster sauce
  • sesame (?)
  • pepper (?)
  • 2 tsp (heaped) cornflour
  • 2 Tbl water

Compile

  1. Mix (Dish 3) well
  2. Chop 8 spring onions
  3. Mix (Dish 2) with hands
  4. Heat wok
  5. Add liberal dash of oil and handful of spring onion
  6. Add (Dish 2)
  7. Stir so all the meat is browning evenly
  8. Cooking nicely, add (Dish 1) to wok. Mix.
  9. Add a pinch of salt
  10. Add one chopped green onion, cook a little
  11. Add spring onion
