LoRa
Lora is a low-power long-range radio protocol. It operates on different frequencies around the world, and is optimised for small packets, usually unidirectional comms. This IOT devices and the like.
There's a lot of cheap boards out there nowadays, and Lora is one of the dominant protocols available on little ESP32 boards and stuff.
