Servicing

Suggested places:

  • Max Oddi
  • Alfamotive

  • Platinum Automotive Care

  • Frank's Pitstop

This is a good spare parts supplier: https://www.aresespares.com.au/browse

These UK guys ship internationally: http://www.ebspares.co.uk/

Recommendations: http://www.alfaclubvic.org.au/forum/index.php?topic=4390.0

"For parts, you can by OE-spec/originals through places like Arese Spares (Sydney) http://www.aresespares.com.au/index.html where Vlade is a real Alfa enthusiast and offers good service. Or EB Spares in the UK, and they have some higher performance stuff too. They offer good service and usually delivered within 2 weeks (depending upon supply). Then fit them yourself or have your local workshop do the job; you could save a hundred or two $ over a dealership, and still have OE parts.

If you are wanting higher performance, suitable for a street car (as opposed to track car), then look into Ferodo brake pads, like DS Performance series. For discs, you can look into DBA (Australia); or I use Tarox discs (Italy) which are grooved. The costs of some of these can be similar to dealer prices for the original-spec stuff."

Parts

Tyres

Upgraded QV sports pack means it has bigger 18-inch wheels.

Tyres are specced as 225/40R18 92W.

Front wheels are Pirelli Cinturato P1, rear wheels are Dunlop Sport Maxx. Rears are worn out and need replacing before passing rego check, will just get some more Pirelli P1 replacements for now. When I do the front I'll get some P-Zero tyres maybe.

Tuffy up the road are quoting $265 to replace each tyre, material and labour all included (not sure about GST).

Brakes

Front brakes were squealing and might need the pads aligned, mechanic is also going to check the rotors as they may need machining. Quoted $218 for replacement Brembo parts (better than $300 for Alfa parts), plus service and labour, comes to almost exactly $400.

Got them replaced on 2017-08-18, rotors were machined and the pads replaced. The squealing is completely gone now, only noise occurs occasionally when stopping.

Instructional

The Giulietta has a functional launch control. Oh golly does it work.

Hacking

I wanna put some front parking sensors in, which necessitates removing the front bumper to drill holes and run wires.

  • 4x big torx bolts on top at the front of the engine bay, T55 size or so
  • 1x T30 torx and 3x phillips head screws in each wheel arch
  • 9x big torx (T55 again?) around under the front lip, but I'm missing two due to damage under the left side, probably due to leaving the carpark after AGS

Is easy to remove and drill holes, the wiring is the hard part. I don't know where I'll be able to pass it through the firewall yet and I'm not having any luck finding spots to drill.
