= Sandisk Ultra 32gb =

This is an older model that I've used before. I tried a second run on this stick and... it seems to have incurred an error that makes it unwriteable now :/

Seems like this might be the cause, it's [[https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/411647/fix-read-only-file-system-usb#comment737857_411647| basically bricked. Apparently the drive will go read-only in hardware if it detects a power fluctuation or some sort of error, so it keeps your data safe. :(

This is a newer model than the Ultra

A retest of this unit showed closely repeatable results, which is good.

= Sandisk Ultra Type-C 32gb =

This one is naturally newer and faster.

 * Rated up to 150MB/s read

Retesting immediately after shows the random reads drop to about 4 MB/s, so what's going on there? Obviously this isn't very trustworthy.
