I've been looking at monitors and trying to figure out just what I want. My current one is the venerable Dell U2711, which has good colour and resolution, but it getting quite long in the tooth. It's also heavy and power-hungry (about 2-4x what a modern LCD draws).
What'd be nice?
- Resolution of 2560x1440 or higher. 4K would be cool but it's probably not worth it in the smaller sizes, and larger monitors are quite pricey. My experience with work's 32-inch 4K display (LG 32UD99-W) is honestly... good but it's remarkably temperamental. Plus you need to drive all those pixels, which just makes life harder when it comes to gaming.
- 27-inch at least, thankfully this is the sweet spot for 1440p models
- High refresh rate, 144Hz sounds nice
- Pretty good colour, wide gamut is nice but not necessary, and honestly probably more of a hassle than it's worth
- G-Sync would be really nice please (though it's less important when your system can push higher framerates)
- HDR would be nice, but this is bottom of the list

The Asus is sounding good because it's substantially cheaper, has a wider gamut, might have better colour, and is more HDR-y. It's G-Sync Compat instead of real G-Sync, I think, but it's kinda hard to tell because there's various sub-models of the Predators that make it less clear.
G-Sync
G-Sync is kinda a weird mess, but ideally you want the ones with real G-Sync hardware inside, though they're more expensive. Many other models are marked G-Sync Compatible (that's a capital-C nVidia accolade), which means they're certified to be good enough with variable refresh rate, but not quite as fancy as a real hardware board.
