They assessed it as needed three major pieces of work, and provided quotes accordingly. 1. A major service, replacing dirty filters, an oil or fuel pump, and a bunch of other things. To date, the service records indicated it was mostly box-ticking, oil changes and the like. $1900 2. Replace worn engine and transmission mounts. These are hydraulic mounts (at least for the engine) and cushion the chassis from vibrations. This may have been the cause of jerking when coming to a stop, which I thought felt like hitting a soft patch on the brake disks. $1200 3. Replace cam shaft magnets and wiring harness. The earlier models has a wiring harness that could get fouled with oil from the engine, which would eventually make its way back to the ECU, leading to costly repairs. $700 I went for the major service and cam shaft magnets, $2600 total. = Repainting = DMS Detailing apparently has a good rep and is based in Castle Hill. = Buying = http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/buying_car_advice
